Wisdom Wins

based on Matthew chapter 11

Have you noticed that that there will always be people who disagree with you and your choices? Have you noticed that if you try to please people, you will end up exhausted and depressed?

John the baptist stood out for the pure, holy, and very different way he lived. Jesus talked about him this way: “of all who have ever lived, none is greater than John”. Jesus calls him more than a prophet.

Haters call him: demon possessed.

Jesus also had a pretty interesting lifestyle. He didn’t live the most pure-looking life, though he remained perfectly sinless. He spent time with the sick and lame, the tax collectors and “sinners”. At a couple points, God the Father audibly said about Jesus: “This is my dearly loved Son.”

Haters call him: glutton and drunkard.

…”But wisdom is shown to be right by it’s results.”

What were the results of these two men’s lives? Come ON! Their very lives were a bunch of fulfilled prophecies and the things they did fulfilled even more prophecies. They CHANGED. THE. WORLD.

You. Do you know what God says about you? We need wisdom to know who we are called to be, and what choices to make. And haters gon’ hate. If you try to please mere men, where will that take you? What if you started seeking out what God says about you, and what God might have for you in this life?

“Jesus prayed this prayer: “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father it pleased you to do it this way!”

I am on a quest to be more like my kids. To slow down, to play, to ponder, to wonder. As the above verse states, God reveals himself to the childlike. Not to the people who think they are smarty pants. It takes a humble attitude to seek God and His wisdom, and “shush” all the other opinions and noise.

Living for the approval of others is a downer. Because you’re just never good enough. Striving to be seen as “normal” or “popular” is too hard! Are you tired of trying to please people?

Jesus says: “Come to me, all you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Wisdom is shown to be right by it’s results.

He accepts you. He has a plan for you. He knows you. He IS love. Will you receive it?
